Product Introduction

Our VM-BP Series Microporous Membrane Disc Diffuser features a body made of high-strength ABS engineering plastic for the tray and base, with the membrane available in high-quality EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer) or Silicone materials, offering two mature configuration options: "ABS+EPDM" and "ABS+Silicone". The product incorporates a unique reverse folding structure and built-in non-return design, ensuring high-efficiency aeration while effectively preventing membrane detachment, mixed liquor backflow, and micro-hole clogging. It operates stably over the long term without requiring special air filtration equipment.
The Membrane Disc Diffuser is a core component of modern wastewater treatment biological aeration systems and belongs to the category of fine bubble membrane diffusers. It converts compressed air into fine bubbles with a diameter of only 1-3 mm through precision micro-holes on the elastic membrane, significantly increasing the gas-liquid contact area and achieving highly efficient oxygen mass transfer.

Main Features
1.Precision Micro-Holes for High Oxygen Efficiency
The VM-BP series diffuser membrane features precision micro-hole perforation technology with pore sizes controlled at the micron level. During aeration, the micro-holes uniformly open under air pressure, releasing fine bubbles (1-3 mm in diameter) with high oxygen transfer efficiency, significantly reducing energy consumption compared to coarse bubble diffusers. Additionally, the fine bubbles exert minimal shear stress on activated sludge flocs, helping to maintain good sludge settling performance.
2.Reverse Folding Structure Prevents Membrane Detachment
Unlike traditional flat membranes, the VM-BP series employs a Reverse Folding Structure design, where the membrane edge tightly interlocks with the ABS tray. This effectively prevents the risk of membrane edge detachment under long-term pulsed air pressure, providing superior sealing performance and extending membrane service life.
3.Built-in Non-Return Design Prevents Backflow and Clogging
The center of the tray features a thickened, unperforated non-return zone (Non-return Design). When air supply stops, this zone tightly seals against the air port, effectively preventing mixed liquor from backflowing into the distribution piping. This design keeps the piping system clean over the long term, making it particularly suitable for intermittent aeration processes such as SBR, while also eliminating the need for users to invest in special air filtration equipment.
4. Reinforced Connector Resists Vibration Loosening
The connection port between the diffuser and the air distribution pipe adopts a reinforced threaded connector (Stronger Connector). Under long-term vibration conditions in the aeration tank, it maintains a secure connection, effectively preventing loosening and leakage caused by vibration, thereby reducing underwater maintenance frequency.
5. Dual Membrane Material Options for Different Water Quality
(1)ABS+EPDM (Ethylene Propylene Diene Monomer): EPDM membrane offers excellent resistance to ozone, chemicals, acids, alkalis, and thermal aging, with high cost-performance. It is the standard configuration for municipal domestic wastewater and general industrial wastewater.
(2)ABS+Silicone: Silicone membrane provides a wider operating temperature range (-60°C ~ 250°C) and excellent anti-biofouling properties, making it particularly suitable for high-salinity, high-temperature, or special wastewater treatment scenarios where rubber materials may be sensitive.

Products Description
The Membrane Disc Diffuser is widely used in the biological treatment stage (such as activated sludge process) of municipal wastewater treatment plants and industrial wastewater treatment stations, suitable for the following processes and applications:
Municipal Wastewater Treatment: New construction, expansion, and retrofitting of existing tanks in urban domestic wastewater plants.
Industrial Wastewater Treatment: Chemical, pharmaceutical, printing and dyeing, papermaking, food processing, and other industrial sectors.
Sequencing Batch Reactors (SBR): Exceptionally suitable for intermittent aeration operations due to its excellent non-return valve performance.
Oxidation Ditches and MBR Processes: Provides high-efficiency oxygen transfer to maintain high-concentration activated sludge activity.

Installation and Maintenance
Installation Guidelines:
-
Pipe Connection: The VM-BP series diffuser connects to the air distribution branch pipe via a reinforced threaded connector. During installation, ensure the piping is level and securely fixed. Use the matching height adjustment brackets to precisely level the piping system, ensuring each diffuser is evenly supported and at the same horizontal level.
-
Installation Sequence: Installation should be carried out after civil construction is complete and the tank bottom has been cleaned. After installation, fill the tank with water to submerge the diffusers by approximately 10-20 cm, then perform an air leak test to confirm there are no leaks at any connection point.
Maintenance Recommendations:
-
Periodic Inspection: It is recommended to inspect the diffusers every 3-5 years, checking the membrane surface for visible scaling, aging, or damage.
-
Cleaning Methods: Depending on water quality conditions, online chemical cleaning using formic acid or citric acid can be performed to restore membrane permeability.
-
Membrane Replacement: EPDM membranes typically have a service life of 5-8 years, while silicone membranes can last 8-10 years. When replacement is needed, only the membrane needs to be replaced (without replacing the ABS tray), resulting in low maintenance costs and simple operation.

FAQ
Q1: How to choose between ABS+EPDM and ABS+Silicone?
A: For conventional water quality such as municipal domestic wastewater and aquaculture wastewater, we recommend the ABS+EPDM configuration for its cost-effectiveness and durability. For special industrial wastewater with high salinity, high temperature, or oil/grease content, we recommend the ABS+Silicone configuration, as its wider temperature range and superior anti-biofouling properties provide better performance.
Q2: What are the core advantages of the VM-BP series compared to ordinary diffusers?
A: Two core advantages: first, the reverse folding structure effectively prevents membrane detachment during long-term operation; second, the reinforced connector solves the problem of joint loosening caused by aeration tank vibration. These two design features significantly reduce underwater maintenance frequency.
Q3: Does the diffuser require special air filtration equipment?
A: No. The non-return design and self-sealing micro-hole characteristics of the VM-BP series enable it to adapt to standard air supply quality, eliminating the need for additional precision air filtration equipment, reducing system cost and maintenance expenses.
Q4: If the membrane is damaged, does the entire diffuser need to be replaced?
A: No. Only the membrane needs to be replaced; the ABS tray and connector can continue to be used. Maintenance is cost-effective and operationally simple.
