Submersible Sludge Return Pump

The VIVAMIX Submersible Sludge Return Pump is specially designed for continuous sludge recirculation in wastewater treatment plants. It is mainly used to transfer activated sludge from the secondary sedimentation tank back to the biological treatment tank, ensuring stable sludge concentration and improving the efficiency of biological processes.

Equipped with a specially designed non-clog impeller and hydraulic passage, the submersible RAS pump can handle activated sludge containing suspended solids and fibrous materials, minimizing blockage risks and reducing maintenance requirements.

Unlike ordinary water pumps that transport clean water, the Submersible Sludge Return Pump needs to handle high-concentration, high-viscosity sludge slurry containing a large amount of particulate matter, and therefore has the following special design features:

1. High flow rate, low head: Sludge return pumps typically only need to overcome a short distance and resistance, resulting in a very low head (sometimes as low as 0.5 meters), but requiring a high flow rate to maintain the return ratio.
2. Anti-clogging and anti-winding: Impellers often employ open or semi-open structures (such as axial three-impellers) with wide flow channels, effectively preventing fibrous materials or large particles in the sludge from clogging the pump body.
3. Submersible seal design: Submersible sludge return pumps operate directly submerged in water. Motor protection ratings typically reach IP68, and insulation class is F, ensuring long-term underwater operation without leakage or short circuits.
4. Corrosion and wear resistance: Pump bodies are often made of cast iron or stainless steel to withstand potentially corrosive substances in the sludge.

It is commonly used in secondary wastewater treatment plants for mixed liquor recirculation, denitrification systems, surface drainage for purified water pumping, irrigation and waterway control systems, and sludge recirculation or suction loops in wastewater treatment processes, where low head and high flow rates are required.
